The Western Cree Tribal Council is seeking an individual to fill the position of:

FULL TIME 12 MONTH TERM POSITION WITH POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION

Dependent on Funding

RESOLUTION HEALTH SUPPORT WORKER

Join a team of staff serving Western Cree Council member Nations.  This employment opportunity will be located at one of our First Nations.  Interested applicants should possess the following skills and qualifications:

Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Health, the worker will be responsible for providing frontline emotional support to Indian Residential School claimants. The services include providing front-line safety supports and coordination of services directly to the claimants.

 Assist First Nations members in obtaining relief for their traumatic residential schooling experiences.

 Develop case work plans for clients and incorporates corrective measures.

 Work with Leadership on significant policy and program delivery issues.

 Promote and participate in joint strategic planning for client care by participating in meetings with government and private agencies.

 Facilitate and support the development of all required acts, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to IRS development and management within member First Nations.

 Provide monthly reports to meet requirements.

 Follow the work plan for the Program.

 Home visits.

 Facilitate and organize workshops and cultural events for our clients and families.

 Network with other agencies within our area.

 Reach out to Elder’s groups that are established in the Member Nations.

 Provide information to clients off reserve and general questions.

 Attend hearings if required.

 Assist with filling out documentation pertaining to the Program.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience with cultural customs, beliefs and traditions. A diploma/certificate in Health/Social Work or related field would be an asset.  This position requires the ability to plan and manage a number of activities or functions. Must have clear Criminal Record Check and valid Driver’s License.

Salary Range:

 Salary to commensurate with qualifications and experience.

INDIAN RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL CULTURAL SUPPORT WORKER

Join a team of staff serving Western Cree Council member Nations.  This employment opportunity will be located at one of our First Nations.  Interested applicants should possess the following skills and qualifications:

Under the supervision of the Director of Health, the worker will be responsible for providing support and assistance ensuring former IRS Students, their immediate family members and support person(s) have access to a level of mental wellness support services that are culturally appropriate to accommodate safety, comfort, respect and confidentiality for those disclosing a history of abuse and trauma as a result of their IRS experience.

 Provide monthly reports, both statistical and narrative for funding accountability and supervision purposes.

 Participate in case management meetings with Indian Residential School Health Workers.

 Work as a team member with the Western Cree Tribal Council organization.

 Knowledge / awareness of cultural resources, customs, beliefs and traditions.

 Facilitate and organize workshops and cultural events for our clients and families.

 Home visits.

 Networking with other agencies within our area (will help us meet our urban population).

 Reach out to each Elders Group that is established in the Member Nations.

 Follow the work plan for the Program.
